KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28, 2021: Petra Group chairman Datuk Dr Vinod Sekhar has been awarded with the prestigious AsiaOne Magazine’s “Person of the Year Award 2020-21”.
The entrepreneur philanthropist was given the award during 14th Edition of the Asia Africa Business & Social Forum: Awards & Business E-Summit for his contributions to business and society.
In his address after receiving the award, Vinod , 53 expressed his hope for the business community to be more focused on sustainable growth that supports communities instead of just continuing with profit-driven approach.
He said such a shift in attitude would be necessary in light of the new challenges created by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I hope this award will inspire other business and economic leaders to realise it is important for us to operate differently.
The pandemic has shown our weaknesses in our society, our social programmes and socio-economic structures,” he said.
Vinod also paid tribute to his staff at Petra Group, saying that the award was also a recognition for their effort through the company to help create a Malaysia that benefits all of its people.
